For testing from the internal surface, a rotating probe equipped with a powerful proprietary technique sensor and simultaneous working laser. For data acquisition, the probe will be pulled by a motorized winch ensuring a constant scanning speed and complete scanning of the pipe surface.
The Reformer Tube Scanner type Tube Scan-360-ID is equipped with a powerful proprietary technique for sensitive crack detection in reformer pipes up to 23mm wall thickness. As this proprietary technique needs no couplant, the readings are repeatable from one inspection to the next inspection. Both measurements strain and crack detection are carried out simultaneously during the inspection. During each tube inspection, millions of data points are collected on each tube. With this data, we will perform a level 1 assessment on each tube and present this information in a report before leaving the job site. Afterwards, a final inspection report will be completed and sent to the client with all tubes chart overviews.
With our newly developed proprietary crack detection system we are able to scan 360° of the tube circumference and the complete thickness of the wall. The current systems available for tube wall scans were developed over 30 years ago and only offer minimum coverage of tube wall (sometimes less than 30%)

The commonly reported failure mechanism in the outlet pigtails is inter-granular oxidation cracking, due to the combination of creep, oxidation. This mechanism involves interaction of mechanical fatigue, high temperature creep, diffusion of carbon and chromium, and high temperature oxidation. Mechanical fatigue is due to the repeated expansion and contraction of both tubes and headers that occur during both on-stream and transient periods.

For testing from the external surface, the complete unit will be moved by hand allowing the passage from the bottom of the pigtail to the top of the pigtail assuring a fast and reliable inspection. We’re performing a 360° inspection on the entire accessible length of each pigtail.

The Fired Heater Scan 360 inspects from one accessible side of the tube to perform a complete circumferential scan that uses our proprietary technology to inspect carbon, stainless, chrome molly, and Inconel materials.
Our inspection system has many advantages for working in the heaters as we do not require any liquids that could fall on the refractory or burners. We can detect ID wall loss, cracking and pitting at high speeds on either Coils, Horizontal or Vertical tubes.

Heat transfer is a crucial factor in ‘cracking’ components during chemical processes. The reactions are set off in furnace tubes in which temperatures ranging between 800°C and 1,300°C are no exception. The tubes, that can reach lengths up to 20 meters, are heated by burners on the outside causing dirt to be deposited on the tube walls due to the use of fuel.
